New tea factory completed in Nilmini Estate

With the new factory, the estate will have the capability to produce a larger number of different types grades to suit a wider array of customer preferences. The enhancement in the variety of products and the potential to reach more customers, Ahinsa Tea will be in a stronger position to convince more people in the tea drinking world of the health benefits of a hygienically prepared Pure Ceylon Organic Tea.

The new tea factory started a trial-run of its operations on 21st June, 2010.

BOI status for Nilmini Estates

The Nilmini Estates where Ahinsa Tea is produced is now registered as a business enterprise with the Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka with recognition for its capacity to earn foreign exchange, employment generation and other special benefits that it could bring to the nation. Apart from the conformance of the Nilmini Estate to EU and US standards for organic cultivation, recognition from the BOI is an additional qualification for the Nilmini Estates’ good work and good deed. The Nilmini Estates are truly humbled by these confirmations that we are a nature friendly, labor friendly and a nationally important business.

AHINSA Tea gets certification from Control Union

Control Union Certifications, an international group of companies specialising in independent cargo surveying, super-intending and certification, recently issued to the Nilmini Estate certifications on Organic Production Methods for both US and EU standards. The certificates were issued in Colombo on March 25, 2008.

Control Union declared to have inspected the units and products of the Nilmini Estate — proud makers of AHINSA Tea products — and have found them in accordance with the standards of the National Organic Programme of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA-NOP). The declaration was made by Mr. S. K. Pathirage, Certifier for Control Union Certifications.
